Landslides of the city of Kraków

Abstract

So far, 379 landslides have been identified in Kraków. They are concentrated in a dozen regions with a varied geological conditions and terrain. Most of them occur in the southern part of the city, which is related to the Carpathian overthrust zone. The main reasons for the landslides activation in the city are intense and long-lasting rainfall, depositing of uncontrolled embankments and the former rock salt exploitation.
